
4DTranslator works with Directv, do I need to subscription to Directv?
No, 4DTranslator works with a DVR channel guides in which it was designed for, these guides are Directv, Dishnet, or MetaConnect. No subscription to any of these services is needed, but a service fee maybe needed for DVR to get current guide information.
Can this work with any C-Band dish size?
Yes, 4DTranslator using a propriety Activator sensor circuit which allow it to work with any size C-Band dish regardless of size.
Can I still use the 4DTV remote?
YES, but it's not necessary. Your DVR remote can be your TV remote it may even become your "Best Friend". The 4DTV remote can be used for "C-Band Surfing" this may still be best in this regard. 4DTranslator is designed to integrate operations between 4DTV and a DVR. Digital Video Recorders in general don't make the best Channel Surfers so the 4DTV remote is still best.
Can the DSR-410 "HITS" receiver be used?
As this is a family receiver of 4DTV 922 / 920 the DSR410 can be used with a "W5" channel mapping. This is mapping of W5 channels only.(Being tested not released.)
Can the DSR-905 sidecar receiver be used?
As the 905 needs a dish mover to work C-Band, and the 905 has a different channel numbers for W5 channels then the 410. Sorry the answer is no. If you were trying to use the 905 for the W5 channels the cost of adding a 410 is very reasonable so this shouldn't be an issue.
Does it need the IPG from 4DTV to work?
No, 4DTranslator doesn't rely on the IPG guide from 4DTV to work. Your channel guide information is provided by your DVR other then the 4DTV receiver as before.
My 4DTranslator doesn't go to the correct channel!
Currently you need to post on the support forum the error, or use the email system found on this Page then DVRBLACKBOX, Inc. will update channel maps. When this is complete a PM message will be emailed to you of the update, channel map database will be available for the database in use, DirecTV, Dishnet, or MetaConnect. Work is being done so you can do this yourself, but currently this is the system that is in place now.
Does the 4DTranslator allow "Channel Surfing"?
YES, you can "Surf", and 4DTV will change channels to record a show you had requested earlier, knowing you moved the dish on your own it will return to normal operations when necessary.
